Called tête-à-tête this variety of daffs were Heather's favourite. The old daffodils that were originally planted here, many years ago, had ceased to flower, the majority of them coming up blind. I dug them out in the autumn of 2007 (on FB's instructions!) and replaced them with tête-à-tête. The biopsy from the hemi-arthroplasty shows no trace of cancer. So we still have remission. In fact, recovery from the operation has been clouded by a weakness on her right side and other symptoms. We had a home visit from a GP today who seems to suspect a recent transient ischaemic attack. Heather may not be able to kneel after this type of operation but should be able to walk unaided soon. The hip operation appears to have been successful. A biopsy was taken. I discussed the outcome further with the registrar. Family can phone me for more detail. Heather should be out of bed and having physio tomorrow. I kid you not. The whole of Oadby Mansion, including the bed, shook violently for a few seconds. The epicentre of the earthquake was in Lincoln, and measured 4.7 on the Richter Scale.
